I kept hearing about this poet through other poets. I'm shocked I was never introduced to her in graduate school. It's clear she has had an impact on many. The most immediate comparison I can think of is probably Traci Brimhall, who uses similar uncanny images to traverse mythical landscapes with religious preoccupations.
I was spellbound the whole way through this book. I don't know how she did that, especially with such long, strange poems. Her use of language can also be defamiliarizing, which often makes me do a double- or triple-take to linger on the phrasing. Such a distinctive style (for her time AND ours), with a singular vision.
