The Year of the Flood by Margaret Atwood
4.0
I liked it. Mostly. It’s been a long time since I read Oryx and Crake so I found myself getting confused about what happened when, and who the characters were. My main objection is to just how convenient it is that everyone seems to have known everyone else at some point, coincidences like that irk me. Otherwise, the story is a really strong, interesting look at a dystopian future and the pull towards an environmentalist world view in a decadent consumerist society where ethics are sold to the highest bidder, if they ever existed in the first place. Very thought provoking. A companion biography of the saints would be very interesting!
