A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
4.0
so i haven’t read the rest of the series in a few months but i randomly decided to finish it after reading fourth wing - which put me into a major fantasy mood. i was really entertained throughout most of this book but what i loved most about it was nesta.
she was SO MEAN, especially in the beginning & i never thought i would actually enjoy reading her pov, seeing how she was in the previous books. but i was surprised at how much I kind of related to her. and there were times where i felt reassured & comforted by her character, & also felt less alone. I definitely think i was meant to read this book at this time, because of how i’ve been feeling lately. It’s so silly to say, but nesta really gave me the courage to journal, sit & talk about feelings/thoughts i was having. i also have been practicing mind stilling (literally meditation lol - but with a new perspective). even though this is fictional (and so unrealistic - was talking about this with julia the other day, they somehow always escape death lol - but let’s pretend that doesn’t happen), it makes me feel like I will also eventually be able to reach a point of inner peace.
"That's the key, isn't it? To know the darkness will always remain, but how you choose to face it, handle it ... that's the important part. To not let it consume. To focus upon the good, the things that fill you with wonder?“ - this is something my therapist would say lol
now… the romance…
i love cassian and nesta so much as individuals and was hoping for a better love story. i wish this book focused more on the romance than the sex like why was there so much of it.
