I have too many feelings after finishing this series. Trees, it was good. The magic system (and swearing) was unique, the world building was strong, and the characters were 👌🏻 Elm is to be protected always. I adore him and have since the beginning. Snarky, irreverent guys are my type apparently. Ione has such a crazy story in the sequel as did Elsbeth - impressive considering her circumstances going in. Ravyn had wonderful character growth and it made him so much more like able that he already was. Then, of course, there’s the Nightmare. The Shepard King. Aemmory Percyval Taxus. The antihero who made this series what it was. He might be one of the most loveable “bad guys” to ever grace a page. He’s a dick, he’s witty, he’s tragic, he’s EVERYTHING.
