First of all, let me start by saying that I would gladly be a pawn in the hands of Jude Duarte.

Now, regarding Cardan, I have to say that I really hate bullies. And no amount of sad back story will change that. Cardan behaved awfully not only towards Jude, so even if I accepted the whole "he was jealous of her, and possibly obssesed with loving her", there are still actions I cannot justify. I think he's an interesting character with a lot to be developed tho, do I'm looking forward to that.

A thing I disliked about this book is the very confusing world building. I still, to this day, don't know the difference between Faerie, Fey and Folk (if indeed there is one). I also can't bring myself to imagine what any thing or creature in that world looks like, except for maybe pointy ears and unusual coloured skin.

But, all in all, I liked reading this book and especially loved Jude. She seemed so motivated by power and she did everything to achieve her goal. She was so active, barely letting anything happen TO her but actually making it happen. That's something that I have been missing from other female MC's I read about in the past.
