This was such an incredible and well-researched contemporary novel. Though this novel definitely deals with heavy topics and family drama, the overall message of the book is so incredibly empowering and positive.
I was initially put off by the comparison to Gossip Girl and the tone of the writing in the synopsis. Expect a more character-driven and less dramatic story than what is portrayed here. This novel is for older readers in the YA bracket and I do not believe the synopsis reflects this well either. The two main girls are sensitive, nuanced and extremely smart, and the 'dramatic' events of the book are second to the development of their characters.
Trigger warnings for sexual assault and rape, please research the TWs further before reading this book if you are sensitive to these topics.
