Holding Harper by Jennifer Bonds
4.0
Holding Harper was adorable and funny. Harper (h) and Chase (H) meet at a party and the start to sparks fly, but then Chase gets injured while trying to help her, causing him to have to put football and college on hold for a semester. The story is written in first person, dual POV. No ow/om drama, neither are virgins (it's been a while for both and H is an athlete who doesn't do casual hook-ups, score!), bc used.
Harper feels overwhelmingly guilty about what happened (and even though the rest of campus aren't sure who she is, there's hate flying around for the woman at the center of the injury). Then Chase ends up as her patient for her nursing degree clinical. Except he doesn't recognize her since she wore a wig at the party and he's fuzzy on events because of the injury. He's then re-intrigued with her as his nurse and we get all the cute chemistry and bonding. Chase admires Harper's brains as well as her beauty and Harper can't help falling for the good guy Chase is.
This was a light and sweet read that was low angst, despite Harper's fears of coming clean (which does happen before anything romantic happens between them). There's one steamy scene close to the end that turns up the heat, but most of the story is about the romance and taking the chance on a shot at love. Chase pursues the heck out of Harper and I loved it. The book ends on a HFN with I love you's being exchanged. The rest of the series follows other teammates of Chase's so I would expect we'll catch glimpses of these two. I would have loved for this to have been a bit longer, but it does make a great novella, Harper and Chase just made my heart happy.
