I think mental illness being portrayed as a serpent is a very powerful representation. I can relate to Eve a lot as a character, I'm likely autistic and i also have an anxiety disorder and have experienced psychotic episodes. It was nice to see a female character portrayed in a way that was relatable. But maybe too relatable. I feel like if I was also exposed to Dr Gish's teachings I'd have the same fate as her? I don't know. But ultimately it was an excellent novella but triggering in ways I'm sure many mentally ill people can understand. Would not reccomend if you're in recovery or at risk of relapsing any kind of psychotic mental illness symptom.
