“You are", he says, "the absolute worst idea I've ever had.”

I didn’t expect to love this book like I did. Admittedly, I’ve been on a romcom kick lately so I’m sure mood played a part, but I fucking adored it.

Is the representation of political parties accurate? No. Frankly, I think it was a bit ambitious to try to do a deep dive into politics and sexual identity within a romantic comedy that has characters obviously based on real life political figures and a pretty far-fetched plot…but I don’t care. I loved it anyway.

I love Alex and Henry. I love June and Nora. I love all the other secondary characters that make up their family and friends. I love the spice🌶🌶🌶 I love the cheesy emails and text messages between Alex and Henry and I’m obsessed over the poetry. The narrator was fantastic; the various accents, sarcasm, and heat in certain scenes really came through perfectly. This is the first book I’ve read by Casey McQuiston and I’m immediately moving One Last Stop up on my TBR.

So many quotes in this book made me smile. Here are a few of my favorites:
“Because you’re it, okay? I’m never gonna love anybody in the world like I love you.”
“Alex wants to go to war for this man, wants to get his hands on everything and everyone that ever hurt him.”
“I do hope you will forgive both my language and my utter lack of restraint: You are so fucking beautiful.”
“I love him, with all that, because of all that. On purpose. I love him on purpose.”
