This was the first chapter book I ever finished on my own as a child and I have consistently come back to it again and again even as an adult almost 15 years from my first reading. It's an easy-to-follow read that I find myself recommending to young readers and adults alike because of all it's strong depicted characters, and even stronger main character as she struggles to cope with a world that hates her very existence. It hits close to home personally, but offers a different perspective of a young woman in a world full of uncertainties.
