A small part of me wants to knock off a quarter star for the epilogue, which was (and almost invariably always is) the weakest bit. Ending with the ellipses would have been such a rhythmic, powerful choice (IYKYK). But I just can't bring myself to do it because this book FLOORED me. The structure and pacing and mindful narration style... I gasped at the end. TWICE. The breaking of the fourth wall has the potential to be a tired trope, making a book *too* self aware. But McDorman's deft story elling managed to keep everything so fresh and immediate. Informative without being didactic. Meta without being opaque. Absolutely masterful.
