"Wherever you are, that's where my home is."
Book 2 in the Green Creek series follows Gordo & Mark, who we meet in book one. This series must be read in order as there is an overarching story running throughout.
We know going into this book that there is a messy history between Gordo & Mark. We just don't know the details of it, and those are slowly revealed to us throughout this book. This story really centres around Gordo, his magic, and of course the pack. The story jumps back in time at the beginning to give us some needed backstory of Gordo's character, his history, and what has led our characters to the leaving off point of book one. The magic Gordo possesses and that is demonstrated in this story grabs hold of you and sucks you further into this already detailed and intriguing world of shifters and witches, etc.
The writing is yet again stunning in its complexity. It is full of love, humour, found family, angst, heartbreak, intrigue, and action. Each character is multifaceted and have depth as do all of their interpersonal dynamics. Mark & Gordo's romance is fraught with tension, hurt & longing, they have caused each other pain and trying to work their way through that history whilst facing new threats to themselves and their pack gave such amazing depth to this story especially as it spans over 25+ years. The plot outside of their romance doesn't sleep either, it is constantly moving and pushing the story forward and there is plenty of action that kept me invested in what was going to happen next for the Bennet Pack, I love all of them and I love the comedic relief that comes from #TeamHuman I mean the things Rico, Chris & Tanner say at times really crack me up.
The reason this doesn't quite make the full five-star mark is because I wanted just a bit more time with Gordo & Mark once they had sorted their shit out... my heart craved seeing them happy & together a bit more than we were given however I expect that we will get some of that in future books. Another amazing read for me, and again, Kirt Graves did an incredible job with his performance on the Audiobook. 🌶🌶
