Soumission by Michel Houellebecq

4.0

Listen, I don't agree with Houellebecq on everything, but I still enjoy reading him and can take something out of it. Think that's a skill that's unfortunately been lost for a lot of people these days. Honestly probably one of the smartest and funniest writers out there right now. He is definitely a bit of a reactionary but a lot of his reactions to how horrible contemporary society has become are valid and incisive in my humble opinion. Sure some of the premises of this book are a little ridiculous, but the world is ridiculous and the premise of this book is an interesting and worthwhile thought experiment.
