Two for Dinner by Rachel A. Smith
4.0
Buckle up for some Rom-Com Romance that will have you remembering your favorite Nora Ephron Rom-Com Movies.
This is very much Billionaire meets awkward.
A scheduling mishap on a private island brings Irene and Damien together. She is there to get over a cheating ex, while he's there to hide away from his life.
Irene is an author whose fiancé cheated on her. She rents a house on a private island to go lick her wounds. She thought she'd be on the island alone but Damien who owns the island turns up. They talk about things like Irene's insecurities over dinner and hook up. Damien leaves the island to go fix some business matter, and Irene's ex Clayton turns up.
I liked Irene's character and occupation, she was a woman brought up with money, but wanted to make it on her own as an adult and boy does she. Damien was a very one-dimensional character. And had several moments of wanting to kick him.
Two for Dinner is a cute, sexy read. Again, Irene and Damien were great as individuals, however not as a couple in my opinion. Two for Dinner is set up like a sit com from the 80's; I know the blurb says a late 1990's movie, but the cheese factor was at an all-time high for me. The book reads as a standalone with a nice epilogue to tie things up.
