Lost Among the Living by Simone St. James
5.0
I've been reading all of Simone St. James' books with a friend, and this one was by far my favorite! The atmospheric vibes were gorgeous, the romance palpable, the spooky elements classic and gothic, and a few twists I didn't see coming! I also adored the mental health rep for severe mental illnesses, as I don't see this often as someone living with schizoaffective disorder, and it made me feel seen. The cross-over this book had with Silence for the Dead was also fantastic, and even though you don't HAVE to read that one first, I highly recommend it.
I could really tell that St. James put her whole heart into this one, unlike some of her other ones, *side eyes Murder Road*, and it was beautiful to see. She really does this historical time period between the world wars so well.
