The Breakup Tour by Austin Siegemund-Broka, Emily Wibberley

medium-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix

3.5

As a certified Swiftie, I had high hopes for this book, but it didn't deliver as I'd hoped. I loved the idea of a second-chance romance as well as a look into the music industry. Max was a little gem and I adored him throughout the whole book. However, Riley got on my nerves. I wish she was able to have more open and honest conversations with herself and the people she cared about. It felt repetitive with the break-up song aspect and I didn't really feel like she had a ton of growth. I liked the songwriting process that Riley went through, but I wanted her to own her success a little more. The romance also felt lacking to me. Thank you to Berkley for sending me a #gifted copy!
