I feel like this book read like the author wanted to tell us she has an MA. I thought a lot of the descriptions were just clunky and overused, which may have been on purpose to relate to the story, but it didn’t elevate my reading experience. This book can be read as a psychotic break, or as a stream of consciousness, but I didn’t feel particularly horrified or weirded out by anything. I expected it to be more outlandish based on reviews I had seen. But then again, I do read quite a bit of bizarre fiction, so I might just have a high threshold.
