This is a really funny picture book with stunning illustrations that would definitely spark a young child's imagination. I know my own children have both wished for all kinds of extraordinary pets at different times.
The story is about a little boy called Jack who loves dodos and wants a pet dodo most of it. Finally his wish comes true but he keeps wishing for more. Once Jack has ten pet dodos he finds they keep getting him in trouble, especially when his mum and dad can't seem to see them (because of course dodos don't exist!) In the end Jack changes his mind about his wish for so many!
This book would be great to use in school. I can imagine using it at the start of a topic on pets and I think it would generate lots of creative discussions, writing and artwork. It's a wonderfully fun picture book that I would recommend to all!
