Like all short story collections, the quality varies, but this is unique in that they all chronicle a history of Mars over time, so you get different perspectives, tones, genres, and moods with the focus on humanity experiencing an unhuman world. There were definitely some standout stories and some that will haunt me forever in the best way. I loved it. It did take a while to read, though, because his language is gorgeous.
