Black Sheep by Brynne Weaver, Alexa Harlowe

4.0

I love absolutely nothing more than a dangerous FMC who doesn’t have to change her aggressive tendencies at all in order to be with the MMC. This book was everything I both expected but didn’t expect at all and I love every single second of it. Honestly, I wanted to give it a 5 but there were just some things that are holding me back.

My biggest issue was the lack of information we got sometimes. These things aren’t super important to the plot and they wouldn’t change my view of the situation or how the story progressed for me at all but I seriously hate having unanswered questions for things I feel could have easily been answered in the book.
How the fuck did the Praetorian find her cabin? I feel like that whole thing progressed very quickly with no external context and while I understand we’re getting the from Bria’s pov so we discover things with her, she could have asked Gabe when she spoke with him. If their lairs are as fortified as we’ve been led to believe I feel like it’s important to give us that detail of how she was found out and how it all went to shit so quickly.
There were a couple of other times when I felt like more context definitely could have made for a fuller experience for the reader.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way I just want to gush about the relationship. I read soooo many romance books where the progression of the relationship between the MCs feels incredibly rushed. Unless the book is a slow burn they tend to jump right into the romance. I’m a very impatient person so this doesn’t actually bother me all the time but it’s incredibly refreshing to see a relationship progress naturally, despite its quick pace.
