The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway
5.0
I'm probably one of few people to not entirely love or completely hate Hemmingway's style of writing. It is scarce and relies heavily on the readers imagination to set the scenery, which is both intriguing and annoying to me. This was the first book I have read by Hemmingway, and I can't help but to think I should have read a different one first. For the most part this book is about a group of friends struggling with the emotional distress of post war. They deal with their problems by traveling around and getting drunk. That is basically what happens give or take a love triangle or three. Of course, I do appreciate the historical look into the lives of the "lost generation" I just wish the story around it was a bit more interesting. The last sentence of this book really saved the whole thing for me, and is the reason I gave this book 3 stars instead of 2.

I was so harsh my first review! I read it for the first time and remembered not quite enjoying it, but a funny thing happened. I couldnt stop thinking about this book. I felt like I had to read it again and wanted to relive the story. I finally did and really enjoyed it all the way through. The characters are so lost and struggling and the way the book builds up tension was wonderful. All the metaphors side by side with the story are just perfect! I love this and think about it often, one of my favorite books of all time!
