The story touched on important topics like family secrets, family relations, immigration and racism; as a child of immigrants I could resonate with the story. It goes back and forth from the future to the past which showcases the characters personalities and life.

The major secret is a big part of the storyline, however it only appeared right at the end of the book and wished it was introduced in a better way- for example more build up or suspense.
