Callan & Audrey: More of the Same... No Resolution in Sight

So, Book Two... frustrated me to no end. Funny... If you read my first review for Book One, I raved. How things have changed!

When I first read Book One, I loved this couple. I loved the banter, the back and forth back-stabbing and the uniting of one goal, to save themselves. I thought that I would see some sort of resolution in Book Two. Especially, since Callan admitted (to himself) of having feelings for Audrey. So, I was interested in how this was going to navigate and move the story along.

It didn't.

More of the same backstabbing and double-crossing. In between, all they do is have sex. And its not just any sex, its Dom/sub sex. It appears that the only time Audrey can heel is if she is getting an orgasm out of the deal. The feminist in me screamed at her countless times throughout this book! It got to the point that I was so disgusted with her behavior that I didn't want to finish the story. Callan blew so hot and cold; I just couldn't keep up. What I can't understand is how the author is going to sell the fact that these two actually truly love each other, that is, whenever she chooses to finally get them to admit their feelings for another.

This ends in another cliffy where the end was Audrey admitting she has feelings. We went through all of that for her to reach the same conclusion that Callan reached at the end of Book One. Waste. Of. Time.

I think I'm going to stop this series right here. As I hear through the grapevine that this doesn't get any better in Book Three. This is how a good series is ruined. You can only stretch the soup so far with water until all the flavor is gone.

Yeah... that's it. This book with all its spice. was BLAND. Two stars was kind.

Happy reading!
