People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry

2.0

Yea…..no. I really wanted to like this book but it wasn’t for me at all.

To me, both characters are very bland and didn’t have anything in common so their romance in the end was cringy. I felt like their age and mentally didn’t match at all. Poppy’s main issues could have been solved if she went to therapy early on in life and realized she is the only one in control of her life and happiness. I felt like she used Alex as an emotional dumping ground and she didn’t take any accountability for her emotional health.

Also Poppy was so ungrateful about everything she had which was a family that loved her and put her through college and the fact that she was able to go on vacations every summer without any real worries. Then to graduate and have the job of her dreams that pays for all her travels to anywhere in the world. Just for Poppy to come full circle and say she’s not happy in life because Alex and her stop talking two year prior. Yea that just screams codependency. This book would have been better if they were in college and she went through this whole self discovery and she learned how to have a healthy relationship with herself and Alex. Also this book would have been top tier if Poppy actually met people on vacation that gave her a different perspective on life.
