Absolutely incredible. I love Greek mythology, I was excited to read a retelling. There was a lot of hype surrounding this book, so I was a bit nervous it wouldn’t live up to the expectations I set, but it far surpassed them.
This is written in first person, which I wasn’t expecting. The writing is lyrical, and you can really feel all of Circe’s emotions across the spectrum. I will say, the pace of this book is a bit slower, which I don’t mind, I know some people do though.
Circe is a new all time favorite book of mine. I will definitely be rereading it in the future.
Side note, and I didn’t realize this until I finished it, but at the end of the book, there’s an index of Greek Gods/Goddesses, mythological creatures, monsters, heroes, warriors, etc which I found to be extremely helpful, and very much appreciate.
