Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas
4.0
3.75 ⭐️ I’m so conflicted about this book. I really, really loved learning more about Damon. In Kill Switch he goes from villain to antihero and I was totally here for it. There were parts that just kind of broke my heart and he is probably my favorite character at this point. I’m glad that the author wrote him as only really showing his true self to Winter while still wearing his Damon suit with everyone else. The boy has developed some serious armor and for good reason.
What I didn’t love is that there seems to be a pattern of scenes being included for no apparent reason but titillation or shock value. I’m ok with these scenes if they progress the story or the character’s arcs, but I’m not sure they necessarily do.
And as much as I loved Damon’s story, I can’t buy into his friends ever being able to forgive him for his past actions. I mean, he had a hand in Will and Rika almost dying for gods sake. But I’m just remembering my decision while reading Corrupt to suspend any expectation that this series reflects any aspect of reality at all.
