The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael A. Singer
4.0
This was my train book at the end of last year and then managed to continue reading it at the beginning of this year. I say ‘managed’ because this is a book I took chapter by chapter and one I was highlighting/taking notes of as I went.
There is obviously a pretty clear, niche, intended audience for this book; people who are interested in the psychology of their outlook on life and spirituality. For myself, this is a topic that I’ve read into across the past five years and I have to say that T.U.S. is a pretty memorable one. It’s wins include:
1) not being too long
2) broken into manageable segments that progress and build on ideas
3) uses accessible language
4) shares concepts in a way that I was able to connect to
If you’re intrigued by self help books and want a recommendation on where to start, I would say this is a good place! Please just be aware that the author does mention some of their own trauma and shares hypothetical situations (as example of how you could work through a similar scenario) which could upset some readers.
