Lovely War by Julie Berry
4.0
This book is absolutely stunning. I didn't know what to expect going in and it wasn't entirely what I thought it might be but I loved in none the less. This is a must read for fans of historical fiction, romance, and mythology (especially Greek mythology.)
It's definitely a bit of a slower read but the interesting narrative and shorter chapters made it much easier to fly through. I think this was such a unique way to tell this story and I adored it. There's definitely quite a bit of insta love in here as well but to be honest, the rest of the romance was so beautifully done that I didn't even care. I think my only true complaint is that I wish we got way more development and story on Aubrey & Colette's romance because I feel like that lacked. I fell in love with James and Hazel more simply for the fact I didn't feel I got enough time with the other couple.
Other than that I really enjoyed this book! We rarely get stories told about WWI so I was so glad to read this. This one really punches you in the gut and is a real tear jerker but I loved every minute of it.
