I enjoyed most aspects of the book except for the romance. The audiobook narrator did a fantastic job that enhanced already enjoyable writing (except for a few lines of dialogue). The cultural references were insightful, I loved learning about Puerto Rican food and Irish whiskey. The grandfathers were adorable, their instigation of the fake dating was out there but the ridiculousness made it entertaining (although certain aspects didn’t sit right with me). There’s a lot of family drama, Kamilah with her parents and brothers and Liam with his grandfather, which was my favorite part of the book even if Kamilah’s family seemed a little mean sometimes. Unfortunately, I liked Liam and Kamilah individually but had trouble connecting with them as a couple despite the multiple sweet moments they shared and the original grand gesture.
