The Killing Lessons by Saul Black
4.0
I’d give this book a 3.5, 4 rounded up.
Nightmares start on a remote patch of land when two strange men appear out of no where and Nell’s life changes forever.
Valarie is a detective with all the cheesy TV characteristics…alcohol abuse, on/off again relationship with Nick with whom she is afraid to tell him that she loves him because of a secret she’s hiding in her past. And the obsessive traits that won’t let her quit on the hunt for the men who leave dead women tortured, raped, but also left wit clues that allow the police to follow their wake of terror.
That leaves Leon/Xander and his buddy Paulie. Paulie is the tag-a-long with Leon/Xander being the ring master of this whole circus. Why is he doing what he’s doing? What made him the way he is?
All three storylines are told throughout the book with all three coming together at the end. Some parts are a little slow, some a little hokey, but other parts are told well and make you cringe for how messed up people can really be.
