The Small and the Mighty: Twelve Unsung Americans Who Changed the Course of History, From the Founding to the Civil Rights Movement by Sharon McMahon
informative
5.0
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. I have followed Sharon for well over 5 years and she has always been so informative and passionate about all things people and teaching us about our government. Both of these attributes are shown throughout this book. I found myself crying while reading about each and every person she shared about, feeling very full circle with some things happening again today. Our current political/country climate has left me feeling so hopeless over the past few weeks and truly... this was exactly what I needed to feel like maybe we can do some good.
"Progress is usually born out of struggle. But struggle doesn’t always mean progress, does it? What do we need to add to struggle to create progress? The answer is hope. Hope, which attorney and author Bryan Stevenson told me is not a feeling but an orientation of the spirit. Hope is a choice that we make each morning, and we do not have the luxury of hopelessness if we want to see progress."
