I really should've DNF'd this one, but there was just enough to keep me slowly coasting all the way through it.

I didn't feel like the chemistry between the main characters was anything special. The attempt was there to make it a meaningful, deep connection between them, but it mostly just came across as lust + like.

The constant "nerdy" references, mostly Star Wars-related, got on my nerves, I'll be honest. And the inclusion of them watching The Force Awakens feels pretty specific to that time in pop culture, which is a pet peeve of mine in books. There were also just a lot of things in the writing that I found cringey, including a grown-ass woman referring to her vulva as "my little lady." NO.

The worldbuilding was just enough to keep me reluctantly picking the book back up, but I still needed more from it. Perhaps over the course of the series, that element becomes stronger.

I will say that the sex scenes were decently hot, so I'll give it that one. 😅😏👍
