The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden

3.0

I almost DNF'd this book. In "The Boyfriend" by Fredia McFadden, the story features a duel POV from the female main character Syndey who feels underwhelming and lacks depth. The second POV is from Tom the male main character, who's story felt incomplete, and didn't provide enough substance to find likable.

The plot escalation is less than thrilling, the story tangles up a web of details that make it feel predictable, and misleading at the same time. The overall experience for me reading this was frustration. I wanted to like either one or both main characters but couldn't find anything worthwhile in either. While the book has its moments, it ultimately falls short of expectations, earning a rating of 3.5 stars.

I love Frieda as an author, but this one for me just wasn't it.
