I have no Macomber - again, a book about nice people doing nice things - however this was the audio version and it was read by Delilah of the sappy evening radio show. While her voice may be fine for reading, the woman couldn't help chuckling at odd bits of sounding overly pleased with sappy parts, and it just made it seem...goofy.
