I find this so relatable.

I'm not deaf, but I'm hard of hearing. It's hard when you're in a group of people and everyone but you can understand what's being said. Everyone is laughing and you're legitimately not sure if what you heard was even English.

It's also hard when you need special accommodations but people struggle to understand what it is you need, even if you explicitly tell them, and they keep falling back on stereotypes or what they think they know about your condition.

Reading this graphic novel felt like finding someone who gets it.

I think the super hero thing was really just a metaphor for finding her ability to effectively communicate with people (mostly about what she needed from them), and I feel like it could have been better done, or really left out entirely, but overall I really liked this book so whatever. I gave it five stars, but maybe 4.5 is more accurate.

My favorite part was when a girl obnoxiously started signing at her and she was drawn as a mime. 10/10 joke.
