I absolutely devoured this book. It ticked all the boxes. The tension, the intrigue, the setting, the spice. Oh and of course the swoon-worthy men. Asher is perfect. I don’t know if I’ve never highlighted so many lines by one character in an ebook before. I’m also expecting good things from Drake. He’s distinctly unlikeable and yet completely unhateable. I think he will have an interesting tale to be revealed at some point. Novalise was also a joy to follow through the book. It was refreshing watching her come to terms with her own thoughts and wishes and to assert them more into her life. 
I also loved how this story was able to wrap up some things very nicely while steal leaving questions that need to be answered. It falls somewhere between a typical, standalone, historical romance and an epic fantasy….AND I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. 
Beautifully written and an absolute pleasure to read.
