The Seeker by Elizabeth Hunter
4.0
As with all of Elizabeths books in this series, I thoroughly enojoyed reading this book. Getting to know Rhys (I pronounce it Reese and idc if thats incorrect, its grown on me) on a deeper level and seeing him interact with people other than his brothers and those he deems worthy of his prescence or attention was interesting.
I enjoyed getting to know more about Irina history and the different tribes and factions that existed before the rending. It's crazy to read these books now with all of the Irina out and about and beginning to be loud and proud about it. For so long, the Irin were alone and then when the Irina revealed themselves, they were sheltered, revered and treated like fragile china dolls. But to finally get to see what they are really capable of and how important and integral they are to their communities. They're straight up badasses and I love it.
The dialogue and FEELS in this book, as usual, 100% spot on. Elizabeth just has a way with words and conversation between characters, that completely sucks you in, makes you laugh, makes you feel scared, frustrated, happy and sad all in a span of a few pages. As serious and studious as Rhys is, he is the funniest character in the entire book and dare I say, the series. There is a scene with Rhys and a laser pointer that literally had me in the laundramat DYING of laughter.
It took me a little while to get through this one...combination of work and the story slowing down a little bit towards the end. Well, it didn't really "slow down", there was just talk and scenes about characters and past Irina in the book, that I didn't really care for. When I am invested in a story and the characters, PRESENT characters, forays into the past and into memories typically pull me out of the moment and away from the book, so I'm not surprised it took me a little bit of time to get through those parts.
All in all, another solid book. I like the direction the series seems to be taking and I can't wait to see what the next book in the series holds. I wonder if we're going to move on to another Irin/Irina couple. Or if Elizabeth is going to revist a few of our old friends.
Either way, IM DOWN!!
