Happy Place by Emily Henry
3.0
For this to be about a group of long time friends they surely do seem to hate each other. This book was good but I wanted it to be GREAT! I wanted these group of friends to feel cozy and for me to witness fun times. Also for this to be their last vacation for a while they didn’t even seem to have that much fun. Maybe I’m nitpicking I don’t know. Harriet’s self discovery was interesting to read and I’m glad she learned that to be in a real relationship means to actually talk about real things. The real core of this book was Wyn and Harriet. I really did like reading about their relationship from when they were first got together all the way too their ending. I feel like I wanted a more dramatic reason of why they broke up to justify the end of what seemed to be a beautiful relationship but it wasn’t that. It felt anticlimactic but I guess realistic. Also I wanted a more heated argument when they were putting everything on the table and talking about issues they kept to themselves. Side note: Their banter with each other could’ve been WAY better. I did love how they chose each other in the end it felt really sweet to me. I also loved the emphasis that Wyn and Harriet were each other’s happy places. I just needed more from this story because I know Emily Henry has it in her. I’m desperately craving the rush I felt with People with Meet on Vacation.
