What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma by Stephanie Foo

dark emotional hopeful medium-paced

5.0

“What My Bones Know” is raw yet pragmatic, painful yet hopeful, and a memoir that I and so many others need. Stephanie Foo shares the story of her C-PTSD diagnosis and her healing journey. This book has a long list of trigger warnings at the beginning, and an encouragement to read the story if you can. I second that encouragement because though I felt a lot of grief personally, I needed to bear witness to Stephanie’s story. I believe other people who have dealt with complex mental and physical illness and/or trauma will get the most out of this memoir. I felt seen in “What My Bones Know” and I believe the central message that people with C-PTSD are not broken but striving for healing will meet readers where they are, educating or resonating.
