The Lovely: I loved the plot - a suspicious school where omegas are abused and alphas are encouraged to act superior. What goes on at the school is truly dark and sinister, increasing the tension throughout the book.
The Mundane: While age-wise this is clearly new adult, a lot of it reads like young adult - in particular the writing style. The FMC also feels younger than her stated age, although that could be attributed to her past trauma. At any rate, given the dark topics of this story, the young-adult feel really felt off to me.
Recommendation: This book is heavy - the plot, the character interactions, the environment. But I didn’t feel the emotional punch I was expecting from this - perhaps that will come in the second book. I will be reading the next book as I’m intrigued to know what happens next and to hopefully see the pack together as one.
