Eldest by Christopher Paolini
5.0
iuhgaid;fuhgpd;ifhg.... is all I can say for now.
Maybe I'll be able to get something a little more coherent to you later today... after I've finished freaking out.
What a twist... WHAT A TWIST.
Edit: Okay so now that I've calmed down.. WOW. You know, I was planning on giving Eldest 4 stars throughout almost all the book. I mean, obviously I really love this series, but the first 4/5 of the book were not incredibly exciting, while reading Eragon's part of the journey. The elves were cool and all, but a lot of it was just about his Rider training. Not that it wasn't fascinating. A lot of Alagaesian history and culture was revealed, which I enjoyed a lot. Roran's experiences interspersed within the story made it much more interesting, but at the same time more gloomy. I found his journey to be the most interesting of the three that exist in this book (there are some chapters about Nasuada and the Varden as well). Once all three story lines converged is when I changed my mind about the rating. Holy crap, did everything take off from there. WHOOO! I literally screamed at the first plot twist. And then I burst into tears at the second one. I'm not upset about the twists themselves though. I mean, they were absolutely essential to the story, I can tell. I am so intrigued and I definitely have to read [b:Brisingr|2248573|Brisingr (Inheritance, #3)|Christopher Paolini|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1320408706s/2248573.jpg|3124969] now. I was just really disturbed because of the implications for Eragon. But still, totally necessary.
So basically, if a book can make me feel that strongly, it definitely deserves 5 stars. Definitely.
