I love the book better than the movie. Truly. The book is less... "black and white", for lack of a better word. It reads like a classic fairytale and modern bedtime stories at the same time, but for adult reader (content warning: there are sex scenes) with happy ending that doesn't last forever but long enough. The tale is so grounded as it is nicely imaginative (a candle that can stand a six-month journey and a fallen star that takes shape of a girl?? whoa).

Every lover is in his heart a madman, and in his head a minstrel.

*P.S.: The subplot revolving around the Stormhold heir is just bizarre and almost funny.
