Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
4.0
wowwwww that ending. this book was heartbreakingggggggg
the story was so captivating. i loved the way it was written, i honestly don't have anything to compare it to. it was actually so funny, i laughed out loud a couple of times. the deadpan, dark, dry humour was such a good writing choice because it worked so well with the story.
there were so many important topics that were covered in this book, each one delicately touched. you can tell this whole book was created with such care.
the characters were incredibly strong, elizabeth was a perfect protagonist. her character was well rounded and she just made sense. it was eye opening to get her perspective in this time period and to see how she dealt with situations. honestly, i want to be her. even the dog had a strong personality LOL (sara kept saying how ridiculous his intelligence was). i genuinely love all of the characters and i might have to watch the show now lol
i really wish i wasn't in a huge slump while i was reading this because it definetely took some of the enjoyment out of it but nonetheless, i enjoyed it and i think it's a book that every woman should pick up.
Edit: i finished the show last night. Omfg. I never say this but I think I liked it more than the book. I cried so much, it was extremely well made. they brought this book to LIFE. A few changes from book to series but they felt necessary & made the story more realistic. If you don’t feel like reading this, watch the show PLEASE. It literally changed my life I swear.
