The Story of More: How We Got to Climate Change and Where to Go from Here by Hope Jahren
3.0
While I completely enjoyed "Lab Girl", I was actually unable to finish "The Story of More". I made it to page 145 before throwing in the towel. My inability to finish this book has nothing to do with the author (she's wonderful) or the writing (it's also wonderful), it has more to do with the fact that I get it - climate change is real, there are too many humans trying to live on the planet using up too many resources and not equally sharing the resources that are available among the entire population. There are only so many climate change books a person can read before frustration sets in at our complete and utter disregard of the planet.
The book is chock full of statistics comparing present day resource use to that of the past fifty-ish years. Sometimes the writing did get slightly bogged down by all of the numbers which I found made it a bit of a challenge to stay focused.
I really don't want to dissuade anyone from reading this book simply because I couldn't keep a bunch of numbers in my head. It's an important work just not what I need to be reading right now.
