Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge by Erica Armstrong Dunbar

challenging dark hopeful informative reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

The story of Ona Judge is truly fascinating, heartbreaking, and empowering. Dunbar’s writing was completely engaging throughout this book. It’s remarkable that she was able to write this non-fiction work with the limited amount of information available about Ona herself and because of the Washingtons’ attempts to keep her story secret.

This is a very important story to be told - from the perspective of slavery and also female oppression, Never Caught is a wholly new perspective.
