Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas
5.0
What can I say about Kill Switch by [a:Penelope Douglas|7139136|Penelope Douglas|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1480874868p2/7139136.jpg] that hasn't already been said? I feel this is most readers' favourite in the Devil's Night saga, and I completely understand the obsession. Damon and Winter's story is bold, unique and emotionally enchanting.
Childhood friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes! So I was giddy to learn that Damon and Winter met at such a young age. From their very first scene together, I was invested in their happy-ever-after but I had no idea what I was in for. Both Damon and Winter are extremely complex characters, and I fell head over heels for them. They are easily some of my favourites from Pen.
In many ways, Damon has stolen the spotlight for me in every book of the series so far, only to peak in this book with incredible character growth and a redemption arc executed to perfection in a way that doesn't change the core of who he is. Even when he frustrated me, I couldn't help but want to understand him and root for him. His trauma is severe, and the exploration of his character has been an emotional rollercoaster.
This whole series has been absolutely amazing thus far and I can't believe there is only one core story left. I absolutely binged this series and it's been a highlight of the year.
I want to avoid giving any spoilers, but this book has disability representation that is incredibly well done (in my opinion). It added so much to the story and I don't think I will ever forget some of the scenes where this disability was instrumental in showcasing the incredible bond between Damon and Winter.
“I might kiss you again when we’re older,” he says. “Just so you know.”

"Because pain in the body quiets the pain in the head. It feels good, like a kill switch for your brain."
