This is my first gothic fantasy book and you can definitely get those eerie feelings throughout this book. I really liked the card take, but it did take me halfway through the book to really get into the card aspect, but I liked nonetheless. 

I do find it funny how so many people were shocked over the ending?? Maybe it's because I read so much fantasy, but I wasn't shocked. It was exactly what I expected the ending to be. 

Overall, I enjoyed the book and I am excited to read book two.
