This book introduced me to this series. I read it first in my mother tongue and I loved it quite a bit, despite that I missed an entire book before that (my father got it for me because I asked him to bring me back something from the library). Now after I read the first book and have reread this one, I really love the character of Nicholas Flamel and Machiavelli but the writing is kind of middle-grade and Perenelle is a boring chore to read. Not to mention how annoying the twins are.
