Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
3.0
In all fairness, JK Rowling's writing style improved in this sequel. The world is more vivid, some questions I'd had before had been answered. I think the addicting thing about this whole series is that once you get answers, another major question opens up, hence propelling you to read the next books.
Anyway, focusing on my real review, I prefer this book than the first one. It's more atmospheric and whimsical. Love the internal conflict of Harry—about the possible duality of his personality. Is he a Slytherin or a Gryffindor? The friendship between Harry, Ron, and Hermione is chef's kiss! They're so supportive of him and they really are true, reliable friends. I also get to see why Draco Malfoy has been acting to shady and rude towards Harry and his friends. I am quite curious to see how his character will evolve through the next books. I do believe that he's not inherently bad, he's just misguided. Dunno, I could be wrong, but I hope I'm not.
Moaning Myrtle has become one of my favorite characters. She's so unintentionally funny, lol! Also, I really enjoyed the drama between Tom Riddle and Dumbledore, as well as the event that happened when Harry decided to dipped his finger on it. So juicy, I'm curious on what will happen next.
But you know what, despite my raving reviews, I couldn't give it full 4 stars, knowing JK Rowling's personality.
Will I read the next book/s? Only time can tell, but here's what I am certain about: I WILL NEVER BUY THE BOOKS! YOU CAN TAKE MY TIME, JK ROWLING, BUT YOU'LL NEVER GET A CENT FROM ME.
To summarize, I enjoyed the book, didn't like the author. So here you go: unapologetic 3 stars!
