Desire in His Blood by Zoey Draven

5.0

4.5✨

And with this book Zoey Draven has become one of my favorite authors!

It was exciting, fun, romantic, and heart-stopping. I devoured this one.

Gemma

I adored Gemma! She was such a wonderful heroine. She tried so hard to build a wall and not allow her vulnerabilities to show. She put herself out there to protect her sisters. She is loyal, steadfast, kind, and strong on her own way. I rooted for her the entire time and simply wanted to reach in and protect her from any slights against her.

Azur

Seeking revenge, Azur has set his sights on an innocent target to achieve his desires. I was prepared to not like him, but I loved him. Even when he fought against his burgeoning feelings towards Gemma, at times hurting her, it was clear he was falling for her. And I loved that.

The Romance

It’s not a perfect beginning to a love story, but it’s one with instant chemistry and eroticism, leading to a tentative friendship, bonding ,and love. It was crafted gorgeously.

Clouded Future

The only reason I held back on 5 stars is I do wish the supporting characters who will likely lead the future series had more prominent roles. I presume at least one of Gemma’s sisters will lead a book, as will the siblings of Azur, but I didn’t get much of a feel on any of them, much less who may be paired up with whom. I would like to see Piper and a maybe Kaldur (the brother who was most against Gemma) have a book. But that’s just based on potential, not on anything actually canon. No idea where the series will go to next, and I simply wish we were left with a bit more direction.

In for the Long Haul

Gemma and Azur’s story was perfect, and I loved the world-building of this one too. These features have me buckled in for the future installments. I wish I had a better idea of what to expect next, but what I do know is I will be along for the ride. I can’t wait!
